Michael Lipkin
Host | Jazz from Aspen

On his way to summer camp when he was 12, Michael took some cash he'd received for his birthday and bought his first Monk and Coltrane records. He hasn't stopped listening since. In the early 80s he left his hometown of New York (not too mention too many late nights in jazz clubs) for architecture, skiing, new friends, clean living and Aspen Public Radio (his lifeline).Since 2003, Michael has been a Jazz from Aspen DJ on Tuesday nights. He prefers straight-ahead, largely acoustic, classic, current contenders that are just a bit eclectic.Michael is a partner in Lipkin Warner Design and Planning - founder of Willits in Basalt. He's the husband of artist Jody Guralnick and father of Georgia and Spike. And when he's not listening to jazz, he's skiing, hiking and dreaming of a jazz club.As Duke Ellington said, "Music is my mistress."
