Mitzi Rapkin
News Director

Mitzi Rapkin grew up in Rochester, New York but has since lived in eight states and the District of Columbia. Colorado is by far her favorite. She got her start in the news business working for the Seattle Chinese Post in 1990. From there she left the newspaper world and taught outdoor education to inner-city youth and then led bicycling and hiking trips around the world for 7 years. The desire to return to journalism overcame her and she moved to Crested Butte and was the News Director at KBUT. From there she went on to freelance for several magazines and newspapers, earned her Master's degree in Journalism from Northwestern University and moved to D.C. to be a producer, editor and writer for National Geographic. The mountains called her back and she returned to Aspen (where she was an intern at ACES in 1992) and worked at a documentary film company and served as the Community Relations Director for the City of Aspen before landing back in radio at Aspen Public Radio.
