Gary WhippleHost | Jazz from Aspen
Gary began his career in radio in 1973 as a program host at WGSU-FM, which is operated by the State University of New York, Geneseo. The station featured a blend of rock, jazz and classical music. From 1975-1980, Gary was on Rochester's WCMF-FM, a top rated commercial rock station still going strong today.
Gary was a jock from 1981-1985 at KSPN-FM in Aspen. He also worked as KSPN's program director from 1984-1985. Gary moved to San Diego in 1986 and was on the air until 1992 at the top-rated KGB-FM in southern California. In 1993, Gary returned to the Roaring for Valley and worked again at KSPN.
For the past 14 years Gary has worked as a video and audio producer and editor for video projects and he's currently co-owner of High Country Studios in Basalt, which produces video in high definition.
In 2005 Gary started hosting "Jazz from Aspen" on Aspen Public Radio every other Monday night. "A large part of our programming during my public radio days in college featured jazz and I enjoy the chance to play it regularly on Aspen Public Radio," Gary says.
Gary is originally from Rochester, NY. He graduated in 1975 with a degree in radio and television production from the State University of New York, Geneseo.
