Ned CochranSubstitute Host | Jazz from Aspen
Originally from Denver, Ned moved to Aspen in the fall of 1958. In the 1960's he taught skiing and coached ski racing in the winter months. In the summers Ned did land surveying. He opened a bicycle business in 1972 called "Ned's Aspen Cyclery" and operated it until he retired in 1996.
Being a fan of radio since boyhood, Ned started volunteering at Aspen Public Radio in 1996. He subbed on a big band show, helped during fund drives and hosted "Wall To Wall Jazz" every other Friday night until 2004.
Ned's family always had great music around the house, especially jazz. His mother took him to hear musicians who are now legends, such as Lester Young, Ella Fitzgerald, Bird and more. Ned feels that volunteering at Aspen Public Radio gives him the opportunity to share his love of jazz and public radio.
