Interview with David Davidar
Publisher and novelist David Davidar spoke at the Aspen Writers' Foundation Summer Words Festival, which was held in Aspen June 21 – 26. Davidar has written two books and is working on a third. Aspen Public Radio's Marci Krivonen talked to Davidar about The House of Blue Mangoes, The Solitude of Emperors, and about common humanity. Can the issue of scarce water in the West, be answered by reusing water in neighborhoods? That was one solution suggested during an Aspen Ideas Festival talk Thursday entitled, "Water and the Changing Face of the American West." Aspen Public Radio's Marci Krivonen reports.

The Aspen Public Radio news team is reviving its Summer in the Streets series where we ask people in the Valley what they think about important issues. With so many Ideas floating around Aspen this week, reporter Mitzi Rapkin asked Ideas Festival participants what thought provoking ideas they had heard.

U.S. Senator Michael Bennet visited Aspen's Colorado Mountain College campus yesterday, and praised the school's push to create green training programs. Aspen Public Radio's Marci Krivonen reports.

The question of how just the American Justice System really is, was part of a panel discussion at the Aspen Ideas Festival yesterday. Recidivism, reintegration and incarceration rates were all identified as problems. Aspen Public Radio's Victoria Foley reports.

Tonight US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, will introduce a documentary film which chronicles the lives of low income children who beat the odds. The film, "Ten9Eight," debuts at 8:30 at Paepcke Auditorium in Aspen. Aspen Public Radio's Marci Krivonen reports.

The documentary Food Inc. is screening at Paepcke Auditorium in Aspen tonight as one of the Ideas Festival Public Programs. The new film has largely been hailed by critics but is not without controversy. Aspen Public Radio's Mitzi Rapkin reports.
