'Art + Law' Aims To Help Creatives Negotiate Legal Landscape

Art is creative and personal, yes, but often art is business, as well. Navigating the legal issues that come with that is a necessary, but sometimes daunting, part of life for creatives. Last week, the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts brought creative law expert Dave Ratner to Carbondale for a workshop for local artists and lawyers.

Musicians, photographers, sculptors, watercolor artists and even trapeze artists attended the conference to ask a variety of questions about intellectual property and copyright law. No local legal professionals attended the workshop for lawyers interested in the field of creative law.

Arts and culture reporter Christin Kay was there, and joined host Zoe Rom to discuss common legal issues facing creatives in the digital era.
