The Aspen Art Museum accepted the 2017 National Medal for Museum and Library Service this week. The institution is one of 10 in the nation to receive this award.
This is considered the highest recognition the federal government awards to museums and libraries for service in their communities.
“Our outreach was the only one that had called out specific recognition, support, collaboration with the Latino community.” Heidi Zuckerman, the Aspen Art Museum’s director and CEO, said.
Gov. John Hickenlooper was in Aspen earlier this summer to celebrate the museum’s achievement.
