Parking in Aspen can be a nightmare. The City Council wants to adopt a new parking code that will free up space downtown and clear extremely bulky vehicles from residential streets.
The code targets vehicles like campers, and trailers. Residents can get four permits per year - down from the previous five -and use each permit for three days.
Oversized vehicles will only be able to park in timed spots once a day. Large campervans must purchase an eight dollar permit to park in neighborhoods.
Under the new code, electric vehicles will still get to park for free in residential zones.
The updated code will go into effect November 15 if council passes it on the second reading.
