'The Emerald Mile' Author Kevin Fedarko To Discuss Work

Author Kevin Fedarko is Aspen Words’ Writer-in-Residence for the month of July. Fedarko’s first book “The Emerald Mile” came out in 2015. It was a bestseller about three river guides who made the fastest trip in history on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. He’ll discuss his writing in Aspen Wednesday evening.

Fedarko is using the Aspen Words residency to work on his second book, which details his journey hiking through the entire Grand Canyon. He said the goal of the trip wasn’t adventure. It was to get a close-up look at the danger facing the canyon’s ecosystem.

“The canyon itself is surrounded by a whole series of development threats from literally every point on the compass,” he said.

Fedarko will read and discuss his work at Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar.
