Meet Aspen’s mayoral candidates

It’s a two-man race for Mayor of Aspen this spring. Incumbent Steve Skadron is hoping for one more term. Challenging him for the seat is Lee Mulcahy.

Both candidates sat down earlier this month with Aspen Public Radio’s Alycin Bektesh, who first asked them why they are pursuing elected office.

Skadron said preserving Aspen’s mountain character is at the heart of his decision-making as an elected official. Mulcahy, who has previously been in the news for controversial legal fights with the Aspen Skiing Company and the Aspen Pitkin County Housing Authority, said he can lead Aspen to a more “funky” future.

You can hear the full conversation with mayoral candidate Steve Skadron here and Lee Mulcahy here.
