Non-Profit in the Spotlight: Ascendigo, Part 1

Ascendigo has been operating out of the Roaring Fork Valley since 2004. Founded by Sallie Bernard, who now serves as the Board President, the autism services organization has grown from a summer sports camp to a nationally known group that offers a range of outdoor sports programs.

Bernard is joined by Ascendigo's Clinical Coordinator, Sami Henry, M. Ed., BCBA, to discuss the organization's history and programs.

About 1 in 68 children have been identified with autism spectrum disorder in the United States (2014, CDC).

Cornelia was born and raised in Aspen and is happy to be home after attending the University of Denver, where she earned degrees in Geography and Studio Art. Since graduating in 2011, she has illustrated several local children’s books, made maps around the world, and continues to draw and paint. In the summer of 2011, Cornelia was a Development intern at The Aspen Institute, and returned to work for The Aspen Ideas Festival in the summer of 2012.
