RFV population grows, despite all the people leaving

U.S. Census Bureau

On Thursday, the U.S. Census Bureau released the 2017 population estimates for counties across the country. Pitkin, Eagle and Garfield keep growing, even though people keep leaving.

The data suggest that over the past seven years, more people have left Garfield and Eagle Counties than have moved in. Pitkin County saw a slight increase in migration: Less than 100 people since 2010.

All three counties’ populations continue to grow, however, thanks to more births than deaths. That said, between 2016 and 2017, Pitkin County saw virtually no change in population.
