Roadwork to slow traffic in and out of Aspen

Motorists can expect major traffic delays at the entrance to Aspen this week.

Starting Tuesday, crews from the Colorado Department of Transportation will begin repairing the potholes at the S-curves on Main Street. The Eastbound lanes there, and from First Street to Aspen Street, will be reduced to one lane. Work is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Wednesday.

Then on Thursday, a detour is necessary for motorists leaving town because of paving over Castle Creek Bridge toward Cemetery Lane. Westbound traffic will be diverted down Seventh Street to Smuggler. RFTA buses will travel in and out of Aspen over Castle Creek Bridge with the assistance of flaggers. RFTA riders should anticipate some minor re-routing or closed bus stops within Aspen.
