Sunday at 4 p.m. is a live broadcast from the tent!

Andrew Eccles

This Sunday, July 30 at 4:00, the Aspen Festival Orchestra presents a concert featuring the very popular Theofanidis's Dreamtime Ancestors, the world premiere of Alan Fletcher's Piano Concerto, Stravinsky's Firebird, and Renee Fleming singing songs of Michael Tilson Thomas and Bjork/Hans Ek.

For the third time this season, Aspen Public Radio's Classical Host Chris Mohr will be hosting a live broadcast of this Sunday afternoon concert. We'll also include extensive interviews with pianist Inon Barnaton, who is performing the concerto premiere, and superstar soprano Renee Fleming.

Later this season, Chris will also be hosting live broadcasts of the Sharon Isbin guitar recital August 5, the Mozart opera La Clemenza di Tito August 17, and the final concert at the Benedict Music Tent August 20 of the Berlioz Damnation of Faust. Stay tuned to Aspen Public Radio for extensive coverage of the Aspen Music Festival throughout the summer!

Classical music reporter Chris Mohr has loved classical music since he was twelve. “And I owe it all to radio,” Chris explains. “I grew up in a farm town east of Cleveland. One day I turned on the local classical radio station. They were playing Vivaldi, and it was like the gates of heaven opened up to me!" Chris is also a composer, and is working on a 53-note-to-the-octave oratorio, "Melodies of the Shoreless Sea." This is his ninth summer working for Aspen Public Radio.
