Theatre Aspen hears no feedback on Power Plant stance

In an email to city officials last week, Theatre Aspen executive director Paige Price came out in opposition of the Power Plant proposal, but so far the group hasn’t received any blowback.

The Power Plant proposal includes space for Aspen Brewing Company, Aspen 82 and a non-profit incubator workspace. The proposal has been an issues since last year. Many residents in the Oklahoma Flats neighborhood oppose the plan because of potential noise issues.

Price says that since the announcement last week, she hasn’t received any negative feedback. One thing she is clear about, though, is that the statement is more about protecting  her own venue. She says that noise from another group could cause problems for her theater.

If the theater was in a brick-and-mortar building, she says, she wouldn't be having this conversation. It isn’t about her opposition to the plan. It’s more about the defense of her business.

Duncan Clauss, one of the Power Plant proprietors, says his intention is to be a good neighbor and work with Price on her concerns.
