Thousands in Roaring Fork Valley Have Already Voted

Elise Thatcher

Tomorrow is election day and polls will open at 7am in the Roaring Fork Valley and across the nation. Because of early voting and mail-in ballots, more than a million Coloradans have already cast their ballots.

Voters will be able to cast a ballot at different locations in across Pitkin, Eagle, and Garfield Counties. They’re called voting service and polling centers, where resident citizens can also register to vote or correct their voter registration. Then they can vote. Voters who have filled out a mail-in ballot from home can also drop off those ballots at the voting service and polling centers.  It is no longer possible to mail those ballots back, because there’s not enough time to arrive by 7pm tomorrow evening. Pitkin County residents near Redstone will have a special drop off tomorrow there for ballots.

Statewide, nearly 1.4 million residents have already voted. About 560,000 were by registered Republicans, 440,000 by Democrats, and 360,000 independent voters.

In the Roaring Fork Valley, early numbers show that in Eagle County about three thousand ballots have been cast in Eagle County by each group--Democrats, Republicans, and unaffiliated voters.

In Pitkin County, election officials have received ballots from about sixteen hundred Democrats, thirteen hundred from independent voters, and nearly a thousand Republicans.

And in Garfield County, about five thousand ballots have been turned in by registered Republican voters, with about thirty five hundred from unaffiliated voters and more than
3000 from Democrats.
