The town of Carbondale attempted this week a moratorium on marijuana-related businesses in that community after several people complained about the smells surfacing around them.

Also in Carbondale, residents are starting to push back on two tax increases before them in this election. One is a property tax to help pay for the town’s infrastructure and the other has been dubbed a “carbon tax.”

In Aspen, there is plenty of debate about the city council’s decision this week to place a moratorium on all new development applications for commercial buildings.

But the municipal government has exempted itself from the moratorium and is moving forward with its plans for up to 50,000 square feet for a new city hall.
