Week in the Arts: April 2, 2018

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

 

Monday, rapper Grieves brings his act to the Belly Up.  Doors open at 8:30. 
 
Tuesday, author Luis Alberto Urrea speaks as a part of Aspen Words’ Winter Words series.  He’ll be at Paepcke Auditorium at 6 p.m.  
 
Wednesday, part two of the 'Ritual' exhibition opens at the Aspen Art Museum.  The work of five new artists exploring the impacts of rituals on us will be on display through July 15. 
 
Thursday, Writ Large brings an evening of unscripted storytelling by valley locals to The Temporary in Basalt.  The story slam begins at 7 p.m.  
 
On Friday, Carbondale-based trio Pearl & Wood plays a community concert at Clough Auditorium at the CMC Rifle campus. The show starts at 7 p.m.  
 
Also Friday, the Daniel Bennett Group will perform a jazz concert at the Basalt Library for their 'Music at the Library' series at 5:30 p.m. 
 
On Saturday, Yaa Samar Dance Theatre, a Palestinian dance company holds an All Levels Workshop in Technique & Composition in Carbondale.  This is the first of several joint events with Dance Initiative.  The workshop is at the Launchpad starting at 10 a.m.  
 
Also Saturday, the Temporary hosts a performance from Play-ground Theatre called 'Professor Big Brain’s Time Travel Experiment.'  It’s a part of the 'Kids Kulture!' series. The performance starts at 3 p.m.
