Week in the Arts: Dec. 11, 2017

 

It's another week of wonder here in the Roaring Fork Valley! Welcome. 

 

Tuesday at Base Camp Bar and Grill, there’s History on Tap: Snowmass 50th Anniversary Apres & Retro Film Screening at 4 p.m. in Snowmass Village.

 

Also Tuesday, Mountainfilm in Aspen presents On The Wall Shorts -- An evening of Climbing Adventures at The Wheeler Opera House, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Aspen.

 

And the Anderson Ranch Arts Center's Film Series continues Tuesday with a screening of The Triplets of Belleville in Schermer Meeting Hall at 7:30 p.m.

 

Wednesday at Explore Booksellers, Aspen Words will celebrate its Literary Prize longlist, celebrating 20 fiction titles published this year. That event begins at 5 p.m.

 

Thursday, the Aspen Art Museum’s opening receptions for its series of winter exhibitions starts at 5:30 p.m.

 

Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Carbondale,Thunder River Theatre Company presents the play “Constellations” at 7:30 p.m.

Friday at The Wheeler Opera House, there’s a Rocky Mountain Christmas tribute to John Denver at 7:30 p.m.

 

Friday at the Marble Distilling Co. in Carbondale, Americana local act Jackson Emmer will perform 8 p.m.

 

Friday at The Temporary, Denver’s La Pompe Jazz will take the stage with Boulder’s Jeremy Mohney in Basalt, also at 8 p.m.

 

Saturday afternoon in Basalt, The Temporary will screen Kid Flix 2, the best of the New York International Children’s Film Fest at 3 p.m.

 

And Saturday night in Aspen, Aspen Choral Society presents “Handel’s Messiah” at 7 p.m.
