Week in the Arts - December 21st

Monday night, Jan Garrett and JD Martin celebrate the 25th anniversary of their Winter Solstice Concert at the Aspen Community Church.

 

Lynn Goldsmith is holding a Rock and Roll Holiday Gathering at her studio in Basalt on Tuesday.

 

Chris Cornell is the former lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave. He plays at the Belly Up on Tuesday. He’s touring in support of his album “Higher Truth” which he released in September.

 

Aspen Film kicks off the 24th year of Academy Screenings. The movies being shown are expected to be top contenders for awards early next year. The first film to be shown will be “Spotlight” which tells the story of journalists who discover child abuse in Catholic churches in Boston.

 

The Aspen Historical Society is holding its annual caroling and cookie exchange event on Tuesday.

 

On Wednesday, go to the Hotel Jerome to see classic victorian carolers perform for free. The singing starts at 4 p.m..

The Glenwood Vaudeville Revue hosts its holiday show on Christmas Eve.

 

Multiple restaurants around town are having Christmas Day meals. Justice Snow’s and the St. Regis will be serving brunch, while element 47 and Ajax Tavern are serving dinner.

 

Chris Phillips, classical and flamenco guitarist, will be playing at the Viceroy in Snowmass Village on Saturday.
