Week in the Arts: January 29, 2018

Wednesday, Aspen Snowmass will be celebrating the local athletes heading to PyeongChang to compete in the 2018 winter Olympics. This event will take place at the Gondola Plaza in Aspen at 3:30.

 

Then Wednesday at the Aspen Art Museum, starting at 5, there will be a Los-Angeles-themed screening of Charlie Chaplin’s “A Day’s Pleasure” and Mick Jackson’s “L.A. Story.”  It’s a joint hosting with Aspen Film.

 

As part of First Friday in Carbondale, there will be an art opening for renowned landscape painter Stephen C. Datz at Main Street Gallery and The Framer starting at 5.

 

Also Friday in Carbondale, there will be a silent auction that benefits the Angus Graham Scholarship fund at the Carbondale Clay Center. This event also starts at 5.

 

Friday, Family Feud Aspen returns for a second year starting at 5:30 at The Hotel Jerome.

 

Friday in Snowmass, Aspen Art Museum will host a workshop on “Art in Unexpected Places” at Elk Camp. That class starts at 6.

 

Friday in Aspen, Holly Bowling reimagines the music of Phish and the Grateful Dead for solo piano at the Aspen School District Theater. That performance starts at 7.

 

Friday Belly Up Aspen and the Wheeler Opera House partner to bring Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue to the opera house at 7:30.

 

Colorado’s Gasoline Lollipops play The Temporary Friday at 8.

 

And Friday and Saturday Katie Thiroux will take the stage downstairs at The Little Nell at 7 and 9:15 as part of the JAS Cafe.
