Week In The Arts: Oct. 22 - 28

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

Monday, the documentary “Faces Places” will be screened at the Temporary. It’s a part of their "Dance, Art, & Music" film series.  The movie starts at 8 p.m.

Artist Emilio Perez gives a lecture at Anderson Ranch Tuesday.  Perez will discuss his work starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Schermer meeting hall.

Jazz artist Kamasi Washington plays the Belly Up on Thursday. Washington is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.

Also Thursday, singer-songwriter Leah Grams Johnson holds a songwriting workshop at the Carbondale Library for musicians of all experience levels.  The workshop begins at 6 p.m.

Saturday, “Call of the Wild: Illustrated Edition” takes the stage at the Wheeler. The family-friendly show uses a projection screen to show illustrations from Jack London’s classic, historical photographs, and new drawings and animations. The performance begins at 5:30 p.m.

Also Saturday, Play-Ground Theatre brings a family-friendly Halloween show to the Temporary. Costumes are encouraged. The performance begins at 3 p.m.

Sunday at the Wheeler, The Naked Magicians perform an adults-only magic show. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m.

Also Sunday, the Aspen Poets’ Society celebrates their 12th anniversary with a live poetry night at the Mountain Chalet in Aspen. The event starts at 6:30 p.m.
