Week in the Arts - October 12th

Your weekly preview of events in the Roaring Fork Valley.

 

It’s a big week at the Belly Up in Aspen this week. Three notable acts are coming through. For you Dead-heads, Dark Star Orchestra plays on Thursday. Reggae more your thing? UB40 comes into town on Saturday.

 

For a more “underground” option, there is Berkeley-based rapper, Lyrics Born, on Tuesday.

Author Moira Crone comes to the Wood Creek Community Center on Thursday for a reading and public talk about her work. In addition to her newest book, “The Ice Garden”, she has been published in The New Yorker and the Oxford American.

 

On Saturday in Glenwood Springs, the 6th annual Culinary Arts Wine and Brewfest comes to the Hotel Colorado. The event includes wine, beer and live music.

 

Also in Glenwood Springs, it’s comedy night at the Glenwood Vaudeville Review. Hippieman, a comedian known for what he calls “cosmic comedy” headlines the night. he has appeared on Comedy Central and The Late Late Show.

Painter, Yana Payusova visits the Anderson Ranch Arts Center for the next two weeks. She received her Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
