Welcome to the beginning of the first official week of fall in the Roaring Fork Valley!
Tuesday at Hooch Cocktail Bar, this month’s Aspen Words writer-in-residence Tatjana Soli, a L.A. Times Book Prize Finalist and New York Times Notable Author, will be giving a talk and reading at 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday in Carbondale, the annual Business Conference and Expo takes place at The Orchard’s Gathering Center, starting at 11:30 a.m.
Also Wednesday, the artists displaying work in the Aspen Chapel Gallery's current show "What's Your Color" will be discussing their paintings at 5:30 p.m.
Thursday and Friday at The Temporary, Palace Productions presents evening performances of “Love, Loss, and What I Wore,” a intimate collection of stories by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, based on the book by Ilene Beckerman. These shows begin at 7:30 p.m.
Starting this Friday, the Glenwood Vaudeville Revue presents its fall musical, “Little Shop of Horrors” at 7:30 p.m. There will also be showings this weekend at the same time Saturday and Sunday.
Friday night, electro pop-rock band Ghostland Observatory plays Belly Up, Aspen with Evanoff. That show starts at 10 p.m.
Saturday at The Wheeler Opera House, there will be be a Poetry Brothel with the director of the Taos Storytelling Festival and the Taos Poetry Festival, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Bar Lobby.
Saturday afternoon at Explore Booksellers, Colorado Book Award winner Edward Hamlin reads from his short story collection, Night in Erg Chebbi, at 5:30 p.m.
Saturday at The Temporary, comedian Troy Walker and friends will provide stand-up starting at 8 p.m.
And Sunday, Aspen Poets’ Society presents a live poetry night featuring guest poet Kiersten Bridger with live music by Dan Sheridan. The poets’ open mic night at the Mountain Chalet starts at 6:30 p.m.
