Catching Up With Father Thomas Keating

Elise Thatcher

The Roaring Fork Valley is rich with spiritual leaders, and that includes a monk based in Old Snowmass. When Father Thomas Keating first took his vows 1944, he didn’t talk much for the next five years, because that’s part of how things worked at his monastery back then.

Father Keating now lives at St. Benedict's Monastery in Old Snowmass, and his work with something called centering prayer has earned him international attention. He talked with APR’s Elise Thatcher, and she first asked him if he ever expected to being a little bit famous in the spiritual world.
