Rock blasting means Highway 133 closures on Friday

Part of Highway 133 will be closed for several hours this Friday. The Colorado Department of Transportation has already been running a construction project on the highway south of Carbondale. On Friday, that’ll expand to a closure near the south end of the Paonia reservoir.

The five hour restriction is to allow for workers to blast rocks and lower the risk of rockfall near the highway. The closure will be between mile markers 24 and 25.5, and will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. During that time access to Kebler Pass will also be restricted. There will be two more similar closures next week and later this summer.
