Mark Cole, the executive director of the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club (AVSC), is resigning after 15 years with the nonprofit organization.

Cole will step down at the end of July but will continue to work part time with AVSC in order to help with the transition, according to a press release.

Cole is credited with growing AVSC’s student participation. During his tenure, the organization was also awarded several accolades including the Aspen Chamber Resort Association’s Non-Profit of the Year in 2005 and 2014, as well as the award for the United States Ski and Snowboard Association’s national Club of the Year in 2011.

“Under Mark’s leadership AVSC has risen to a level of national prominence, while staying true to the club’s mission and commitment to great athletes, great kids,” said AVSC board president Marc Ganzi in the release.

A Board of Directors task force plans to select Cole’s replacement as part of a search process that will take place over the next two months.
