The guide "Colorado Family Outdoor Adventure" offers advice to parents, grandparents, children and teenagers so they can enjoy activities throughout the state.

Author Heather Mundt has written a new guide to encourage people of all ages to get outdoors. She spoke with KGNU's Shannon Young about "Colorado Family Outdoor Adventure: An All-Ages Guide to Hiking, Camping and Getting Outside."

The book explores all areas of the state and grades activities in terms of difficulty and age-appropriateness, so readers will know which activities are suitable for young kids, teens and older relatives.

Mundt’s list of 10 Colorado Kids’ Rites of Passage are:

  • Children’s Museum
  • Mesa Verde
  • Four Corners
  • State Capitol
  • Water World
  • Red Rocks
  • Denver Mint
  • Air Force Academy
  • Casa Bonita
  • Coors Field
