The Federal Aviation Administration says Pitkin County has to rebuild the runway at the Aspen-Pitkin County Airport in a new location if they want to preserve funding from the agency. The agency will also require the new runway to be 150-feet wide, allowing larger planes and potentially more crowds into the Aspen area.
