The Aspen Historical Society will be releasing the first images from the estate of local newspaper legend Mary Eshbaugh Hayes on Monday.

When Mary Eshbaugh Hayes passed away in January, a collection of her more than 65,000 photographs were donated to the Aspen Historical Society.

Since then, the images have been tagged, processed and a starting Monday, one thousand of them will be available on the Society’s online database.

Hayes was a well-known photographer and former editor-in-chief of the Aspen Times. She also penned the column “Around Aspen” which appeared in the Aspen Times Weekly.

The Historical Society is currently in the process of renovating its archives which will be named after Hayes.
