A new study shows that the arts contribute over $13 billion to Colorado’s economy every year.
The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis partnered with the National Endowment for the Arts to research the impact of the arts on employment and their economic value. The study attributed over 100,000 jobs in the state to the creative industries.
Nancy Lovendahl, member of the Basalt Public Arts Commission, isn’t surprised by those numbers.
“Let’s say someone is coming to the Art Base or the Temporary for an event. They’re going to spend on average $36 per person," she said.
Some of the fastest-growing industries are web design, performing arts and architectural services, according the report.
