Writ Large hosts an evening of storytelling Thursday night in Basalt.
In what’s called a "story-slam," people take the stage to tell true stories, without relying on notes.
Rosemerry WahtolaTrommer, a poet from Telluride who is participating in the slam, said the ancient art form of oral storytelling is experiencing a resurgence.
She credits this to a culture that’s growing increasingly isolated. This means, right now, people crave connections. “And when we hear that kind of authenticity, it sends off bells inside us, right? It’s like, 'oh my gosh, that’s it for me too,'” she said.
Trommer will be joined by five other Colorado storytellers, including several valley locals, at the Temporary.
