Plenty of people turned to books and movies to help pass the time while stuck at home during lockdowns and stay-at-home orders. Data from the Garfield County Libraries Carbondale branch shows that adult fiction was the most popular category for checkouts, and patrons chose a variety of highly-acclaimed recent films when it came to movies.
14 of the top 15 most-checked-out items were adult fiction books, according to tallies from March 16 to June 8. “The Dutch House,” a 2019 novel by Ann Patchett, was the most popular item during that stretch, checked out 67 times.
The 16th most-checked-out item was a TV show – the eighth season of “Game of Thrones.” Next on the list was “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” – the Mister Rogers biopic starring Tom Hanks.
The “state parks backpack” was also a popular item. The backpack contains an entry pass to Colorado state parks and educational materials about nature.
Other books ranking high among the top overall checkouts include “Long Range” by C.J. Box, and “The Giver of Stars” by Jojo Moyes.
“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” “Ford v Ferrari,” and “Joker” also top the list of the most popular movie titles.
