Cindy Houben last week announced that she will retire as Pitkin County’s director of community development July 1.
Houben began her career as a planner for the county in 1985 and worked her way up to director of the department.
Houben, known as an advocate for open space, helped build the Rural and Remote Zone district.
Halle Zander sat down with Houben to discuss her 37 years with the county.
