Anderson Ranch Names Institute's Peter Waanders New President And CEO

Anderson Ranch has named Peter Waanders as their new president and CEO.

Waanders comes to Anderson Ranch from the Aspen Institute, where he’s currently the Director for the Society of Fellows. He managed that program’s expansion to year-round events in cities around the U.S.  Before joining the Institute, he ran independent bookstores and was a partner in David Floria Gallery in Aspen.

Waanders replaces Nancy Wilhelms, who stepped down as Anderson Ranch’s executive director earlier this year.  Wilhelms served in the position since 2013. Among the initiatives that she launched during her tenure was the Visiting Artists series, which brings acclaimed contemporary artists to the campus to work and teach.

One of Waanders’ first tasks will be to hire a curator-in-residence, a new position at the arts campus.

In a press release, Waanders says that he’s long admired the work of Anderson Ranch, and he looks forward to expanding its impact in the world of contemporary art.

His first day will be Jan. 15, 2019.
