Artist Holly Roberts Returns To Anderson Ranch

www.hollyrobertsstudio.com

Holly Roberts will present a guest faculty lecture at Anderson Ranch this weekend.  The New Mexico-based artist combines photo collage and painting in her work.

Roberts holds the title as the longest-standing visiting artist at Anderson Ranch.

Roberts says one thing that’s kept her coming back during her 30-year tenure is the joy she finds in teaching workshops. She says many of her students were told, when they were young, they couldn’t paint or draw.

"Some of them are just terrified, just shaking in their boots. What I get to do is, I get to lead them back into the garden," she said.

She also works on her own pieces at Anderson Ranch, using the time to step out of her comfort zone as an artist.

"I don’t have my normal library of images and equipment, and so I try as much as possible to fly by the seat of my pants," said Roberts.

Roberts will discuss her work Sunday at 7 p.m. in Schermer Meeting Hall.
