Aspen Chapel Gallery Honors Local Rita Hunter With 'Passages'

Aspen Chapel Gallery

The Aspen Chapel Gallery is packed to the gills for the new exhibit “Passages,” which opens Wednesday.

Work from seventeen local artists is on display; the gallery normally only exhibits work from around ten.

The show is in partnership with Pathfinders, a nonprofit that supports those with terminal illnesses and their families. It’s in honor of longtime local Rita Hunter, who has produced dozens of productions for Aspen Community Theatre.

Gallery co-director Tom Ward says, art has a place when it comes to dealing with grief.

"It is an emotional release. Sometimes it’s an emotional experience, it sometimes brings great joy, it sometimes takes you other places," he said.

A reception for the artists starts at 5 p.m.
