Aspen Junior Hockey, Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts win grants

The Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts and Aspen Junior Hockey each won a $7,000 grant last week from First Western Trust.

The two groups won a popular vote against 22 non-profits, including The Aspen Historical Society and Theatre Aspen.

About 12,000 votes were cast, with two winners getting about $3,000 each. A technical error made exact totals for each unavailable, but they were far ahead of any other competitor.

Aspen Junior Hockey said the money will be used to support its girls hockey programs, while the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts will use its grant to support its general programs.
