Aspen U Speaker Series Brings 'Backpacking Queen' To Aspen

Professional photographer and “backpacking queen” Wyn Wylie speaks about inclusion, representation and backpacking in six-inch heels as a part of the Aspen U speaker series Tuesday night.

Wylie is a Nebraska-based photographer and gender-bending backpacker known as “Pattie Gonia” online.

His talk ties in with SkiCo’s Give a Flake campaign that promotes climate action and inclusivity.

SkiCo’s Vice President of Sustainability Auden Schendler says that Wylie’s online persona helps expand the range of people who feel welcome outside.

"This is a guy who goes out into the wilderness in high heels and does photo shoots on mountain peaks," said Schendler.

The Aspen U Speaker series features climate leaders and activists.

Wylie’s presentation "Becoming Pattie Gonia" is Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Limelight in Aspen.
