Basalt considers Sunday pot sales, adjusting buffer zones

Marci Krivonen

Basalt’s Town Council is considering changes to its marijuana regulations to make then more similar to alcohol rules. Elected officials may allow medical and recreational pot shops to be open on Sundays and extend operating hours.

Basalt’s Town Council could also change how required buffer zones are measured. If approved, the five hundred feet required between stores and places like day care centers would be measured from sidewalks and other pathways, rather than property lines. Council will take up the possible changes Tuesday night.
