Basalt considers three candidates for town attorney

basaltchamber.org

Basalt Mayor Jacque Whitsitt told Aspen Public Radio all three candidates are locals and could start immediately.

The town’s previous attorney, Tom Smith, resigned on March 13, having served since 2005.

There is one outstanding lawsuit the new attorney will inherit: Ted Guy is suing Mayor Whitsitt over alleged violations of the Colorado Open Records Act.

According to town manager Ryan Mahoney, the attorney will be paid somewhere in neighborhood of $200 an hour.
