Nick Lenio is one of 25 semifinalists for the National Grammy in the Schools Music Educator Award. To reach this point he had to make several videos showing the work he does at the school.

He’s created a new music group called the Basalt StreetHorns that plays at events all over the valley, including the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience.

The finalists will be selected in December. The winner will receive a Grammy award, as well as a $10,000 grant for the school, and the winner.

He beat out more than 3,000 other competitors. Lenio teaches music at Basalt Middle and High Schools.
