Basalt puts out RFP for child care provider

The Town of Basalt is trying something new. It’s looking for a licensed operator to start a day care center in the town’s Red Brick building.

The idea is to have a full service, year-round child care program at the Red Brick. The goal is to have slots for 15 to 20 children.

Basalt is accepting proposals through Friday, June 10. The goal is to have the day care center up and running by the beginning of the next school year. The town has not put out a request for proposal (RFP) for a child care center before.

Basalt is coordinating with the Roaring Fork School District, which is rearranging classes at the Red Brick building. Two part-time child care programs, including Camp Chip-A- Tooth, will continue.
