Residents of Battlement Mesa, outside Parachute, are suing the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) because of the agency’s approval of a controversial well pad.
Ursa Resources’ “A pad” will bring 24 new wells, as well as an injection well, into a Battlement Mesa neighborhood. They’ll be a little over 500 feet from homes and close to a water treatment plant and the Colorado River.
The COGCC approved the pad in January.
Ursa maintains their operations meet health and safety requirements. Residents of Battlement Mesa claim the COGCC isn’t taking seriously their concerns about health, noise and safety.
