A black bear attacked a hiker in Aspen Monday morning on the Hunter Creek Trail.
According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, or CPW, a couple was hiking the trail when they spotted the bear. They stepped off the trail to allow it to pass, and it bit one of the hikers’ legs.
The injury was not life threatening. CPW officials closed the area for most of Monday to catch the bear. Once, they’ll match its DNA to evidence from the hiker’s wound before euthanizing the animal, according to CPW policy.
