BLM Drops Grazing Fees For 2019

Grazing on public land will be cheaper in 2019.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced this year's permit prices for grazing on federal land, and they couldn’t get cheaper.

It’ll cost $1.35 per animal unit to graze on public land, which is as low as the law allows.

The price is determined by a formula that combines three factors: current rates, the cost of livestock production, and beef prices. In sum, the fee reflects market factors.

The price drops Friday, affecting 18,000 BLM permits and over 6,000 Forest Service grazing permits.
