Board of Education Chats: Susan Marolt

Candidate Statement:

As a candidate for the Aspen Board of Education, I am committed to striving for excellence for our school district.

I have, as a priority, a collaborative environment for our teachers and administrators, creating a team atmosphere as we go about the work of maintaining an exemplary district. Our board, administration and teacher team approach to academic areas includes setting desired student outcomes and implementing concrete measures to get there. Other candidates have chosen to criticize and attack our district, often using misrepresentations and inaccuracies to do so. Let’s be clear … criticism is not a strategy or a vision. With the current board, I have a plan for academic excellence, teacher retention, reflecting community values and the development of the whole child.
