Category changes to go in front of council

Elise Thatcher

The Aspen Pitkin Housing Authority board has approved changes to the income categories that qualify residents for subsidized housing. But the city and county elected leadership must approve the measures and well.

City Council will be discussing the proposed amendment, which cuts down the total number of categories and uses federal standards to assess median wages in the upper valley, on Monday night.

Under the new proposal, a worker making between $15,000 and $164,000 per year would qualify for some level of rent or ownership subsidy.
