Citizen board considers next El Jebel development proposal

The Fields Development Group

There’s several development proposals for the El Jebel area, and a citizen board is getting ready to consider a residential subdivision. A group of developers wants to build up to 110 homes and duplexes on Eagle County land.

The parcel is between two other neighborhoods and across from Blue Lake. “We’re in the infancy of this project,” says Sean Hanagan. He’s an Eagle County planner and is is overseeing the project’s review. “It is truly a sketch plan, is this an appropriate place for development, we’re not looking at the specifics per se.”

The idea is to create a more affordable neighborhood, like Sopris Village near City Market in El Jebel. So far The Fields would include about twenty-five affordable housing units, as required by Eagle County.

The Roaring Fork Valley Regional Planning Commission will review the application on Thursday. It recently voted against another project. The Tree Farm proposal included hundreds of smaller units and a sizable amount of commercial space.
