Clinic Offers Free Flu Shots

The non-profit Community Health Services is administering flu vaccines at Aspen Outfitters in Woody Creek next week.

The vaccine typically costs $30, but patients with health insurance won’t have a copay and uninsured patients’ vaccines are paid for by a grant from the Aspen Thrift Shop.

According to nurse Sabrina Kertz, they expect to immunize around 50 people, but are bringing shots for plenty more.

The Center for Disease Control recommends everyone 6 months and older get vaccinated by the end of October each year. The exact vaccine changes, and it takes two weeks to develop immunity.

The clinic runs from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday.
